Warmer for Winter

winter is coming.

Delivering life-saving, cold weather protection to dogs in our community.

We are fortunate in NC to have beautiful weather most of the time…but there are certain times of the year that it’s simply not safe or humane for animals to be left outside.

Warmer for Winter works to support Pit Bull families, who desire to provide improved cold weather protection for their dogs but may face challenges (financial, behavioral or otherwise) that have prevented them from being able to do so.

Loaner Crates

Providing loaner crates to families who, when given the opportunity, would like to bring their dogs inside during periods of cold or inclement weather – allowing them to do so confidently.

Wheat Straw Delivery

After all other means of bringing the dogs safely indoors have been explored and exhausted, we will offer to deliver wheat straw to insulate and shelter dogs who (for whatever reason) cannot be cared for indoors.

Dog Houses

Our vision for the program includes  providing insulated dog houses to families in need (again, after consulting with each family and discussing means of moving pets indoors as the first and best option).

donate

Our greatest need at this time includes the following supplies and donations:

  • Dog houses (used or new)

  • Crates (used or new)

  • Wheat straw - available for $5 at JE Womble & Sons Hardware in Lillington OR donated through us

  • Dog food (any brand)

  • Blankets, dog coats, crate pads, etc.

Apply for Assistance

If you or someone you know has dogs that are outside and would benefit from our program, please click below to complete a brief application.  Spaces are limited and we encourage dog owners to enroll early.

volunteer

We will likely have a need for delivery volunteers or volunteers able to pick-up supplies in areas of Harnett County.  If you have a vehicle that is capable of transporting large items or wheat straw and you would like to help - please email us and we'll be in touch.
